Basecamp Tahoe South

During our Thanksgiving trip to Basecamp, a new experience for us in Tahoe, the hotel's location was a plus. The front desk gentleman was exceptionally friendly. Unique to Basecamp, they didn't provide a microwave for guests to use. Surprisingly, the front desk lady told us that heating a simple breakfast using their microwave would cost $15, which is outrageous. The room was average, with some issues like stained towels and low shower pressure. The lack of soundproofing was also a problem, as we could hear the neighboring guests clearly. Considering better experiences at other nearby hotels, we probably won't return to Basecamp.

This place was very cool. I had no issues, but it is a no frills kind of hotel. Nothing super fancy but a perfect place to use as your "Base Camp" while you are going on lake adventures and mountain visits. We visited in the summer so we did not come up for skiing during this trip. They have a brewery attached where they do live music and fun "Camp Vibes." If you are okay with a simple stay with everything you need this is the perfect place and at the price point, it's a great place to stay!

Trendy with lots of fun details like a beer garden, live music (even on a Monday), roof hot tub, and morning coffee bar. We stayed in their most basic room and it was pretty bare and not super private but it was clean and had the best in-room coffee (pour-over) I've ever had at a hotel. We were really tired and wanted to go to sleep early so we weren't the biggest fans of the moderately loud music playing in the walkways outside our door until 10. Booked in early October and got a great deal! I would recommend Basecamp to those who appreciate a trendy and lively environment!

Maddie was very personable when we came to the front desk. My husband and I shared some great laughs with her. Basecamp overall is a cool spot to stay. Walking distance to quiet a few places. The outside patio and beer garden is nice. We went to the beer garden while there was a private event going on so we didn't get to sit next to the fire. That was the only bummer.

Good side: - The whole hotel is dog friendly, thank you very much for that, it was really great to be able to have my dogs with me ( that I consider as my children lol ) -The hotel is very well located. - You are very close to shops and restaurants. Which is convenient. -The staff are friendly. -The rooms are clean. - It's easy to park in front of the hotel when it's not busy. - Nice courtyard area with bonfires and games and a cool little bar. - A warm, dog-friendly little bar. The other point is a little restrictive: - The ventilation/heating/air-conditioning system sounds like a lawnmower engine all the time, and if you switch it off, it sounds like a refrigerator vibrating all the time... It was annoying in the long run. - Tv : Old tv , no possibility to put Nelfix and watch a movie before sleeping , it's an old tv , with buy tv channels . - No maid service during the 3 days I stayed and no coffee supply. I have two dogs and when we went to the beach they had sand accumulated under their feet so it wasn't pleasant to see the ground dirty, plus it was snowing and muddy ..... A little tap on the floor would have been nice ... or added something in the rooms for people to clean themselves, that wouldn't have bothered me. - No coffee at reception ..... - No garbage cans in the courtyard, I always pick up after my dogs and there was no garbage can... I had to find one in the middle of the street ... Thank you for your welcome and your service.
